About our members
The Net-Zero Advisory Body (NZAB) is proud to be Canada’s first-ever advisory body dedicated to net-zero. The Net-Zero Advisory Body is a group of experts appointed by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change.
Our members have diverse and complementary backgrounds, coming together from all regions of Canada. With expertise in relevant fields—including science, business, policy-making, rural economic development, and governance—we are able to advise on the complex issues facing Canadians on the path to net-zero.
Reflecting the fact that net-zero will affect all parts of society and the economy, our members also have a wide-range of experiences, including in the transportation, clean technology, agriculture, electricity, finance, and not-for-profit sectors.
In serving as members, we represent ourselves as individuals, not any organizations that we are employed by or affiliated with.
Together, we bring a uniquely Canadian perspective to net-zero pathways.
What guides
our work?
Core Mandate
We are mandated to provide the Minister of Environment and Climate Change with independent advice on the most likely pathways for Canada to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and to advise on the setting of interim emissions reduction targets on the pathway to net-zero emissions in Canada by 2050.
Terms of Reference
Our current Terms of Reference were set by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change in April 2022.
