International Climate Councils Network
In 2021, climate advisory bodies and climate councils from around the world came together to form the International Climate Councils Network (ICCN) – the first group of its kind and the membership has continued to expand. Members of the ICCN, which includes the Net-Zero Advisory Body, provide evidence-based, expert analysis to governments to support the delivery of effective action to reduce emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. The ICCN’s mission is to foster collaboration between climate councils from around the world and—where applicable—support the development of new climate councils as expert evidence-led organisations to guide and oversee delivery of climate change mitigation and adaptation. The ICCN is a jointly owned initiative and is coordinated by a rotating subgroup of members.

A decade of implementation
To mark the launch of the ICCN, it wrote to heads of government calling for ‘a decade of implementation’, starting at COP26, and at COP27 the ICCN issued a second letter calling on ‘all Governments to consider establishing a Climate Council or equivalent structure.’ The ICCN stands ready to support governments with independent, expert climate advice. For more information, see the International Climate Councils Network website.
Includes councils from over 20 countries around the world.
